This panoramic view of Meriden, approximately facing northeast, was published by the O.H. Bailey Company of Boston in 1875. Numerous factory buildings can be seen, most located along the railroad that runs through the settlement in a north-south direction. The red circles indicate the location of the Center Street and Cooper Street bridges; clicking on a circle will provide an enlarged view of the area immediately surrounding the bridge.
A comparable 1918 bird's-eye view, from the Library of Congress's panoramic map collection, shows how much Meriden grew in that period.
